School Programs

Team 9-1-1 volunteers can arrange for an informative and entertaining educational program for area schools. The Red E. Fox program, targeted at children ages 4-7, teaches simple but important lessons about how to get help in an emergency. The program consists of a presentation by a 9-1-1 dispatcher, a public safety officer, an AT&T Pioneer or a member of the Mid-America Regional Council public safety staff. Often, the 9-1-1 mascot Red E. Fox will accompany the presenter to the classroom. Students will watch a video about proper 9-1-1 use, work through instructional activity sheets and practice making a 9-1-1 call on a simulator.
Topics of the children's program include:
- When to call 9-1-1
- How to call 9-1-1
- What to say when you call 9-1-1
These lessons have been presented throughout the country with terrific results. Working together, we can make sure kids know the right way to use 9-1-1.
For more information, contact Public Affairs Specialist D'Arcy Haeusser.
The Kansas City regional Team 9-1-1 is made up of members of local public safety agencies, Telephone Pioneer chapters and concerned citizen volunteers.
* Note: We will make every effort to accommodate specific date requests,
but we can make no guarantee that a presenter and/or Red E. Fox will
be available.
