GREEN COMMUTE CHALLENGE
July 5–Aug. 26, 2011
SAVE MONEY
Driving less equals saving money. According to AAA, it costs commuters $58 per 100 miles to drive to work in vehicle expenses. Join the Green Commute Challenge to stretch your dollars this summer.
KEEP OUR AIR CLEAN
Leave your car at home twice a week during the two-month-long challenge, and you’ll prevent about 272 pounds of harmful ozone-forming and greenhouse gas emissions (for a 20-mile round-trip commute).
THE CHALLENGE
The Green Commute Challenge aims to remove motorized vehicles from the road during peak commute times and during ozone season in Kansas City. It's an employer-based contest that encourages the use of carpooling, vanpooling, riding the bus, bicycling, walking and telecommuting.
The contest takes place in July and August because this is when Kansas City typically experiences the highest ozone levels.
WIN PRIZES
Earn points by tracking activities that reduce miles driven to qualify for weekly and monthly prizes.
COMPETE
When you join your company’s Green Commute Challenge team, you’ll compete against other organizations in the Kansas City area to find out who can save the most “green.” Start building your company team today!
