There are more than 50 free park-and-ride commuter lots throughout the Kansas City area. Reduce the stress of rush hour traffic by parking your car at one of these lots and either taking the bus, or riding in a carpool or vanpool.

How to Find a Park-and-Ride Lot
Check listings of park-and-ride lots in the Kansas City region that may be near your home. If not, maybe there is a commuter lot close to your children's school or child care facility where you can start your commute. If you need help locating a park-and-ride lot, call 816/842-RIDE. You can also use an online mapping service like MapQuest or Yahoo! Maps to get step-by-step directions and maps.

Kansas City's The Metro and Johnson County's The JO offer various lots for commuters who use public transit or bike and bus for part of their commute. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) maintain lots along major interstate highways.

Who Maintains Park-and-Ride Lots?
Maintenance at park-and-ride lots is taken care of on a case-by-case basis. Privately owned lots, such as malls and churches, are usually maintained by the owners, although KCATA does repair damage to lots that may have been caused by buses.
