The Green Commute Challenge is a regional, employer-based contest that encourages commuters to use alternative modes of transportation during the time of year when Kansas City’s air quality is most vulnerable to elevated levels of ozone and other pollutants.
We are grateful for the support of our generous sponsors!
SAVE MONEY
Driving less equals saving money. According to AAA, it costs commuters $58 per 100 miles to drive to work in vehicle expenses. Join the Green Commute Challenge to stretch your dollars this summer.
KEEP OUR AIR CLEAN
Leave your car at home twice a week during the three-month-long challenge, and you’ll prevent about 272 pounds of harmful ozone-forming and greenhouse gas emissions (for a 20-mile round-trip commute).
WIN PRIZES
Earn points for your employer team by logging activities that reduce miles driven on RideShare Connection to qualify for weekly and monthly prizes.
COMPETE
When you join your company’s Green Commute Challenge team, you’ll compete against other organizations in the Kansas City area to find out who can save the most “green.”
Employers will be competing in categories based on the size of their organization (small, medium and large). At the end of the challenge, the top companies earning the most points in each size category will receive an award, and there will be other recognitions as well.
