Quick, what was the price of gas in Kansas City a year ago? If you’re like many people, memories of $4-a-gallon gas are foremost in your recollection of 2008. You may be surprised to learn that in fact the price of gasoline in Kansas City fell to a low of $1.29 a gallon in December 2008 and hovered between $1.66 and $1.75 a gallon in the early months of 2009. Do you have a commute safety net?

Commuters who choose alternatives to driving alone have a safety net in our Guaranteed Ride Home service. Available to registered carpoolers, vanpoolers, Johnson County Transit riders and bicyclists, RideShare will provide up to two free taxi rides home from work each year in the event of an emergency.

Register for Guaranteed Ride Home online, or call 816/842-7433. Registrants will be sent a card that lists their contact person, and a flier that explains program policies.

Participants’ personal information is kept confidential and is never shared with outside entities.
