This summer employees at Kansas City area companies will "go green and save green" during the annual Green Commute Challenge, a competition that encourages employees of participating organizations to reduce driving alone and save money on their commutes. The challenge, which runs July 6–Aug. 28, is a fun way for employers and commuters to address two serious issues: air quality and rising gas prices. [More] |

When the Bicycle Commuter Benefit Act was passed in October 2008 as part of the federal bailout bill, many bicyclists discovered a shortcoming. Citizens weigh future growth scenarios for Transportation Outlook 2040 |
The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) hosted an open house on June 3 to present ideas for how Transportation Outlook 2040 — the Kansas City region’s new long-range transportation plan — could guide investments in roadways, transit, bridges, bicycles, freight and more over the next 30 years.
As part of Transportation Outlook 2040, MARC must forecast growth and traffic patterns, and predict how land will be used. At the open house, citizens evaluated two future growth scenarios for the year 2040, which were developed for the first time by the region's Technical Forecast Committee, using existing local land-use plans.
If you missed the event, you can still review the information and share your feedback on future growth scenarios at www.marc.org/2040.
