Sustainable Success Stories

In 2011, MARC honored seven sustainable success stories as examples of great projects, policies or practices in sustainability in the Kansas City region. Project honorees were selected through a competitive Call for Successful Sustainable Projects.

Sustainable Success Stories is part of an ongoing community dialogue focused on building a better understanding of sustainable practices that have the potential to transform our community into “America’s Green Region.” By sharing local successes and challenges, we can enable community partners to learn about and replicate locally tailored, high-impact sustainability practices. This workshop will present current thinking about reinterpreting underperforming strip malls. The projects presented here represent a broad array of public, private and cultural entities taking up the issue of what to do with these all too common pieces of the American suburban landscape.
