In order to bridge the gap between regional ITS architecture and regional ITS implementation, several additional products are necessary. These additional products, listed below, define the series of staged projects, enable agency agreements, and supporting ITS standards that will promote the efficient implementation of ITS projects in the region.

  • Project Sequence- The regional ITS architecture is implemented through many individual ITS projects that occur over time. The project sequence document defines an ordering of the ITS projects that are depicted in the regional ITS architecture.
  • Operating Agreements- Agreements among the different stakeholder agencies and organizations are necessary to achieve the integration shown in the regional ITS architecture. This product documents the agreements, both existing and new, that are required for operations, including those affecting ITS project interoperability.
  • ITS Standards- ITS standards facilitate integration and interoperability by providing a set of technical specifications that are to be used consistently as rules, guidelines, or definitions of characterisitics for the exchange of information. This document identfies the ITS standards for each information flow in the regional ITS architecture.

For more information concerning ITS Standards, visit the U.S. Department of Transportation's ITS Standards Program.
