Background
The policy requires sponsors to evaluate bicycle and pedestrian accommodations for projects in the Transportation Improvement Program and the Long-Range Transportation Plan during planning and design activities when there is existing or anticipated demand and legal access.
The Task Force is made up of bridge owners, local communities, civic and elected leaders, and representatives of the bicycle and pedestrian communities. Representatives include: MetroGreen® Civic Leadership Board; Kansas City River Trails; MARC Bicycle/Pedestrian Committee; MARC Transit Committee; MARC Highway Committee; Kansas Department of Transportation; Missouri Department of Transportation; Federal Highway Administration; Kansas City Port Authority; Clay, Jackson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Platte and Wyandotte counties; Kansas City, Mo., Shawnee, Leavenworth, Bonner Springs and North Kansas City; Greater Kansas City Bicycle Federation; Missouri Bicycle Federation; Johnson County Bicycle Club; Patti Banks Associates; Downtown Neighborhood Association; Regional Transit Alliance.
