About the Study

  • Regional in scope, potentially addressing rail transit issues on both sides of the state line.

  • Focused on the possibilities of utilizing existing railroad corridors for commuter rail. Use of existing rail corridors can make commuter rail transit much more financially attractive and logistically practical.

  • Separate from other ongoing regional transit initiatives, but incorporates outcomes from each of those studies as available and appropriate.

  • THREE PHASES:
    Phase I - Initial Corridor Screening

    Phase II - Detailed Assessment
    Phase III - Recommendations and Implementation
