MAP-21, the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (P.L. 112-141), enacted in July of 2012, maintains the basic eligibility of most Transportation Enhancements (TE) projects from prior federal transportation legislation, but replaces the old TE Program with a new program called Transportation Alternatives (TA) to fund these projects. The Mid-America Regional Council, in consultation with the Missouri Department of Transportation, is soliciting project proposals for TA Program funds within Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte counties in Missouri for federal fiscal years 2012 and 2013. The TA program supports projects that increase transportation choices and access, enhance the built and natural environment and the transportation experience, and provide a sense of place.

MARC anticipates awarding a total of approximately $5.3 million in Missouri TA funding for FFY 2012 and 2013.

In order to make the most progress toward our regional and transportation visions, the broad policy goals identified in Transportation Outlook 2040 will serve as a guide for regional transportation investments during this call for projects. Project proposals submitted for consideration will be evaluated based on how closely they align with the policy goals of the plan.

The application closed at 4 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012.
