The Mid-America
Regional Council is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization
(MPO) for the Kansas City metropolitan area. As the MPO, MARC receives
federal funds to develop regional transportation plans and programs
and to coordinate technical and policy studies on a wide range of
transportation issues, working in cooperation with the
Kansas Department of Transportation, the
Missouri Department of Transportation, local governments
and transit providers.
MARC’s
transportation planning activities encompass all of Cass, Wyandotte,
Johnson and Jackson counties, and portions of Leavenworth, Platte and
Clay counties (see
Boundary Map).
