As the MPO, MARC receives federal funds to develop regional transportation plans and programs and to coordinate technical and policy studies on a wide range of transportation issues, working in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Transportation, the Missouri Department of Transportation, local governments and transit providers.

MARC’s transportation planning activities encompass all of Cass, Wyandotte, Johnson and Jackson counties, and portions of Leavenworth, Platte and Clay counties (see Boundary Map).
