The corridor is a proposed 40-kilometer (24.8 mile) roadway to be located in the cities of Kansas City, Sugar Creek and Independence, and parts of unincorporated Jackson County, Missouri. Three segments comprise the corridor:
The Missouri River Corridor Draft Environmental Impact Study (EIS) is a joint project of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Missouri Transportation Department and MARC to address existing and emerging transportation needs, and support growth and development of the communities along the Missouri River Corridor. The EIS focused on how proposed improvements would impact the community and environmental issues. The Missouri River Corridor environmental studies for I-435 to Sterling Avenue and Little Blue Expressway have been completed. The FHWA approved the environmental assessments and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (September 2005). The Chouteau Trafficway section is currently under study as an Environmental Assessment. This study is anticipated to be complete in 2006. The Front Street section (between I-29/I-35 and Chouteau Trafficway) is currently under study as an Environmental Assessment. The environmental documentation for the section between Sterling Avenue and U.S. 24 is currently on hold. Final environmental assessments (September 2005) I-435 to Sterling Ave. Expressway
