FY 2008 Funded Safety Projects

The projects submitted for FY 2008 transportation safety funding demonstrate the number of local organizations with transportation safety as a priority and the community’s desire to collaborate on this important issue. These projects put into action strategies that address the region’s high-priority safety areas established by the Coalition in the Kansas City Regional Transportation Safety Blueprint, and most importantly, preventing additional fatalities and disabling injuries in our local neighborhoods, sidewalks, streets and highways.

The Destination: Safe Coalition received 18 applications for funding. These requests totaled $358,554.03. The anticipated available Missouri funding totaled $181,140. $52,700 was set aside by the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety for a Regional Public Information & Education Plan. The remaining $128,440 was available for regional projects. Additionally, three projects were eligible for recommendation to KDOT’s Bureau of Traffic Safety for Section 402 Funds.

The following seven projects were approved for Missouri funding:

For organizations that have been recommended for Kansas funding, we will be working with the KDOT Bureau of Traffic Safety’s funding guidelines for Section 402.  Additional information and forms may be needed to meet their requirements.  No funding guarantees have been made, so please do not proceed with expending any funds until confirmation from KDOT has been secured.

For those organizations not receiving funds, we will be happy to assist in identifying additional funding opportunities and supporting your efforts.
