FY 2009 Funded Safety Projects
The projects submitted for FY 2009 transportation safety funding demonstrate the number of local organizations with transportation safety as a priority and the community’s desire to collaborate on this important issue. These projects put into action strategies that address the region’s high-priority safety areas established by the Coalition in the Kansas City Regional Transportation Safety Blueprint.
The "Destination: Safe" Coalition received 19 applications for funding, totalling $315,322. The anticipated available Missouri funding is $155,145. The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety set aside $52,700 for a Regional Public Information & Education Plan. The remaining $106,445 is available for regional projects. Three projects were eligible for recommendation to KDOT’s Bureau of Transportation Safety & Technology, formerly the Bureau of Traffic Safety, for Section 402 Funds.
The Coalition met Wednesday, May 28, 2008, reviewed all applications, and voted on projects that will receive funding. Several projects were funded at reduced amounts.
