FY 2010 Funded Safety Projects

The projects submitted for FY 2010 transportation safety funding demonstrate the number of local organizations with transportation safety as a priority and the community’s desire to collaborate on this important issue. These projects put into action strategies that address the region’s high-priority safety areas established by the Coalition in the Kansas City Regional Transportation Safety Blueprint.

The Destination Safe Coalition received 10 applications for funding, totalling $106,341. The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is expected to allocate $46,000 for regional projects. Three projects were eligible for recommendation to KDOT’s Bureau of Transportation Safety & Technology, formerly the Bureau of Traffic Safety, for Section 402 Funds.

The coalition's Leadership Team met May 27, 2009, to review applications and vote on projects. The top six high-scoring Missouri projects highlighted in yellow in the chart below were recommended to receive funding.

KDOT does not allocate a specific amount of funds for regional blueprint projects, but they are interested in additional funding ideas in the region. The Leadership Team recommended submitting all projects for consideration to KDOT for Section 402 funding in order of preference based on the score. KDOT will have the sole discretion whether or not the projects will receive funds.
