FY 2011 Funded Safety Projects

Projects submitted for FY 2011 transportation safety funding demonstrate the breadth of local organizations with transportation safety as a priority and the community’s desire to collaborate on this important issue. These projects put into action noninfrastructure strategies that address the region’s high-priority safety areas established in the Kansas City Regional Transportation Safety Blueprint.

The Destination Safe Coalition received nine eligible applications for funding, totalling $66,104 ($40,379 in Missouri, and $25,725 in Kansas). The Coalition's voting members met July 28, 2010, to review applications and vote on projects. Approximately $64,494 was available for regional projects in Missouri, and Destination Safe opted to fund all submitted projects. Three Kansas projects were recommended to the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Safety & Technology for Section 402 funding. KDOT will have the sole discretion whether or not the projects will receive funds.

Destination Safe's public information and education and transportation safety data task teams will determine how to use the remaining $21,793.
