Connecting Our Communities
It is important to plan for transportation system needs as population and employment increases in the region. The South Metro Connection Study has spent the last two years looking at infrastructure needs in growing southeastern Johnson County and northwestern Cass County between U.S. 69 and Holmes Road. The two counties have long identified the desire for better connections and safety on roadways between Kansas and Missouri.

The issue
Much of the area of southern Johnson County and northern Cass County is transitioning from rural uses and character to more suburban uses and character. The community has choices about the nature and character of the places that are being created and are evolving. The South Metro Connection Study will examine these choices and will evaluate transportation options that can be coordinated with these choices. The goal is to ensure that future transportation plans will support creation of the places that residents and businesses want in this southern part of the metropolitan area.
