Regional Commuter Rail Feasibility Study
Completed in 2002
Working under the direction of MARC, the Commuter Rail Feasibility Study determined the realities of using existing rail corridors to help serve the transportation needs of the greater Kansas City region.
- Regional in scope, potentially addressing rail transit issues on both sides of the state line.
- Focused on the possibilities of utilizing existing railroad corridors for commuter rail. Use of existing rail corridors can make commuter rail transit much more financially attractive and logistically practical.
- Separate from other ongoing regional transit initiatives, but incorporates outcomes from each of those studies as available and appropriate.
