Early Childhood CLASS Assessor

The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is seeking contractual Early Learning Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Assessors to conduct observations of early learning classrooms and programs in the Kansas City region.

We are seeking individuals that are motivated self-starters, certified in CLASS assessment instruments. 

• Work approximately 8-14 hours/week (mornings) during the school year (August – May). 
  • Communicate with early learning program administrators to schedule CLASS assessments.  
  • Conduct CLASS observations in infant, toddler and/or preschool classrooms in person or virtually via Zoom.  
  • Clean data and conduct “quality control” checks prior to submission, making sure that all data is accurate and complete. 
  • Enter data into online data system.  

• Have current certification in Prek, toddler or infant CLASS observation tools.
• Applicants must be self-motivated, punctual, reliable, organized and detail-oriented.
• Must be capable of establishing and maintaining a good rapport with school personnel and comfortable around children.
• Must have reliable transportation, comfortable using GPS to locate an address within Kansas City region and be willing to travel to local schools.
• Must have email, internet access and cell phone with long-distance calling plan.
• Must successfully pass a tuberculosis test and criminal background check.
• Must be available a minimum of three mornings a week (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.), preference will be given to those available five mornings/week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Applicants with research experience and/or experience working in early childhood classrooms are preferred.  
• Child Development Associate and/or Associate degree - preference will be given to candidates holding a degree and/or working towards an associate or bachelor's degree.   
• Preference given to dual-language speakers.  

The contracted MARC Early Childhood CLASS Assessor will be compensated based upon the following schedule: 

CLASS Observation flat rate includes time for scheduling, conducting 4-cycle observation, data entry, all related tasks and mileage.

This is a contract position of up to 20 hours/week during the assessment windows.

This position is not eligible for benefits.
