Training Description:
This training focuses on supporting preschoolers’ literacy development. Participants will learn how literacy skills set the stage for children’s learning in school, how preschoolers learn literacy, and ideas and strategies to support literacy development during everyday tasks and activities in the program.

The presentation will encourage participants to think about the why, when, where and how associated with making observations of children as well as documenting what has been observed. We will discuss how it can be helpful for planning, implementation, building relationships, recognizing, and supporting emerging skills, etc. Different types of observation, documentation and assessment tools will be shared.

Training Description:
This training will bring to light the importance of positive interactions between providers and the children they care for. Providers will learn how to properly engage with infants and toddlers and what children will gain from those teacher-child interactions.

Northwest Missouri Home Based Collaborative Network

Training Description:
Providers will have the chance to learn why sensory play is important and how to implement it into their practice.

1.5 Missouri clock hours will be given. There is no cost to attend, but registration online at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education website is required.

Join us for the kickoff of the 2025 Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan planning process. 

Every five years, the Mid-America Regional Council helps jurisdictions on the Missouri side of the region update a hazard mitigation plan to meet requirements set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Kansas communities are also in the process of updating their plans.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to include an information session before submitting a pre-application.

Targeted for individuals with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes or who are pre-diabetic, this helps participants manage their diabetes through lifestyle changes.

Classes meet for 2 1/2 hours once a week for six weeks: May 23 - Jun. 27, 2024

The Planners Roundtable is a quarterly gathering of the Kansas City area’s urban planners and those interested in urban planning topics. Each meeting covers topics of interest to planners, and participants can share planning news and activities that are taking place in their localities.
