MAHS Advisory Board
The MARC Board of Directors serves as the governing body for Mid-America Head Start. In March 2012, the MARC Board voted to establish the Head Start Advisory Committee. While the MARC board maintains legal and fiscal responsibility for MAHS, this newly established advisory committee oversees operations and submits monthly reports to the MARC board.
MAHS Policy Council
The MAHS Policy Council consists of parents and community members elected by each delegate agency to represent family concerns and approve financial expenditures and annual program planning. Policy Council members are trained in Head Start governance responsibilities, as well as fiscal and program policies and standards.
50 Faces of Head Start
Head Start has been at the forefront of comprehensive early childhood development and education services for 50 years. Head Start programs prepare children for success in school and life by supporting their mental, social and emotional development. In 2015, MAHS and Head Start programs across the country celebrated the 50th anniversary of Head Start. During this anniversary, MAHS gathered stories from individuals whose lives have been impacted by Head Start — including alumni, parents and teachers.Learn more»
