Strengthening support for the gift of longevity

Creating healthy communities where all residents can thrive

MARC programs help strengthen support systems for the region’s most vulnerable residents, including older adults and disadvantaged populations and also promote public health through healthy, active lifestyles and nutrition for area residents.

Aging and Adult Services and Programs

When older adults need help in Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties, the Mid-America Regional Council's Aging and Adult Services program is the first call. The program coordinates and delivers community-based services that link older adults to local, public, private, voluntary and corporate resources.

Long-term Care Ombudsman program

An ombudsman is a neutral, third-party representative who can listen to concerns about care or quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities, and advocates for them. MARC’s trained community volunteers respond to requests from residents, family members or long-term care facilities.

Communities for all ages

The Communities for All Ages recognition program offers tools to help cities and counties become more aware of their role in supporting their older residents. The program recognizes communities that have taken steps to become more welcoming to residents of all ages and, in the process, more vibrant, healthy and prosperous.
