Participants learn battery construction and chemistry, hazard recognition, thermal runaway response, air monitoring, and fireground strategy and tactics. The training combines classroom instruction with hands-on application and covers battery emergencies in transportation, residential, commercial, and industrial environments.

The course is considered fast-paced, highly interactive, and challenging as the students, formed into the Command and General Staff positions on an AHIMT navigate through multiple activities and rapidly expanding incident scenarios.
