This eight (8)-hour course is locally developed by regional police officers and tactical medics. It was developed for regional first responders who will be exposed to and then asked to demonstrate techniques related to countermeasures when engaging with motivated attackers. This instructor-led training will start with classroom instruction which will build to demonstrated techniques and end with practical application scenarios involving simulations. Participants will learn risk recognition, responder safety, patient care considerations, evidence-based decontamination, and coordination across agencies grounded in real incidents from the KC Metro.

Target Audience

This is a free training opportunity open to all first responder disciplines: Fire, Police, Sheriff, EMS, Public Health and Emergency Management personnel with practical, scene-ready tactics for today’s opioid landscape.

Hazards, Risks, and Consequences during this 8 hour highly interactive class, participants will understand the significance in using physical and chemical properties to assess hazards encountered at hazardous materials incidents, apply physical and chemical properties to manage risk during hazardous materials incidents, and understand consequences of how things can go wrong on hazardous materials incidents. 

Join us for an interactive virtual exercise (Operation: Heat Shield) which will provide an opportunity for regional community-based organizations to practice activating your organization's plans, protocols and procedures you would use during an extreme heat event.

There is no cost to participate in this exercise, but registration is required.
