Quality Improvement Coach

Contract opportunity

The Mid-America Regional Council’s (MARC) Department of Early Learning is seeking contractual personnel to serve as a Quality Improvement Coach (COACH) to provide monthly on-site coaching and technical assistance to early learning centers and family childcare home providers.  

We are seeking motivated, qualified early learning professionals who are interested in supporting early learning administrators and teachers in their on-going quality improvement.  On a part-time basis, up to 25 hours per week, provides professional development to early care and education providers to increase the quality of care using approved curriculums. Professional Development may include coaching, training, and providing resources and/or incentives. This position also entails collaborating with other agencies and organizations in the service delivery that serve parents, early care and education providers, and educating them on our services.

Contractor Services

Recruitment 

  • COACH is responsible for recruiting eligible early learning providers for their monthly caseload from a recruitment list provided by MARC.

Training and Meetings as needed 

  • The COACH will complete training on one of the DSS required curriculums to be utilized by staff involved in site visits (estimated to be 4 hours of training).  
  • The COACH will obtain a Missouri Professional Development Identification (MOPD ID) and obtain a minimum of 12 clock hours of early childhood training each year.  

Quality Improvement Site Visits 

  • The COACH will utilize strength based coaching techniques to provide regular onsite technical assistance visits within the designated service area focusing on quality improvement to a caseload of registered childcare providers.  
  • Each participating provider is to receive a one-hour site visit each month.   
  • The site visits will involve completing an early care and education checklist and establishing a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and developing attainable goals with providers.  
  • The COACH is responsible for adequate prep work required to prepare for a site visit which may include researching and gathering community resources, copying curriculum handouts, and preparing learning activities to model in the classroom.   
  • The COACH will be responsible for entering all participant program data elements into the Apricot online database tracking system each month for services provided in the preceding month.  
  • The COACH will be paid a fee for services based on number of site visits completed each month.  

Qualifications 

  • Applicants must possess an ability to develop rapport with childcare professionals, children and families from a variety of ethnic, cultural, geographic and economic backgrounds. 
  • Must be comfortable providing on-site coaching at the home of a family provider with children present.  
  • At a minimum, applicants must possess a four-year bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, family or child development, elementary education, psychology, social services or related field. 
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ experience working in an early childhood program, home visiting program or related early learning experience.   
  • Ideally, applicants will have experience with the Apricot Solutions database.  
  • Must possess ability to understand and present current information on best practices in Early Education and utilize strength-based coaching techniques. 
  • Working knowledge of general computer operations required. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel and familiarity with e-mail and internet functions. Applicant must be comfortable using videoconferencing, if necessary.  
  • Must have Internet access and cell phone with long distance calling plan and reliable transportation.    
  • Must successfully pass a tuberculosis test and background check.   
  • Preference will be given to applicants trained in Supporting Care Providers PAT curriculum.  

Compensation

The MARC Quality Improvement Coach will be compensated based upon the following schedule:

This is a contract position of up to 25 hours/week. MARC would provide mileage to meetings once it is safe in the community to meet in-person rather than virtually.
