MARC’s Aging and Adult Services department recently received a SAGECare Credential for its achievement in providing an inclusive and affirming environment for LGBTQ+ older adults.

The department, which also serves as the Area Agency on Aging for the five Missouri counties of the MARC region, received the credential after a rigorous assessment of policies, practices and staff training to create an inclusive and welcoming space for all older adults, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

The SAGECare credential process evaluates agencies that provide services for older adults based on various criteria, including non-discrimination policies, staff training on LGBTQ+ cultural competency, community engagement and resident support services.
