Missouri Master Plan on Aging Town Hall - opening remarks

On Friday, Aug. 1, area residents, officials and aging service providers came out to the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center to attend the Master Plan on Aging Town Hall.

The event was a collaborative effort of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS), Care Connection and MARC. Mindy Ulstad, chief of the Bureau of Senior Programs at MDHSS, led the discussion.

The town hall included presentations on the draft Missouri Master Plan on Aging and the results of the 2024 statewide needs assessment survey. Attendees were invited to give feedback and voice opinions on the plan.

“We sincerely appreciate everyone who attended the town hall and shared their thoughts on how we can shape a better future for older adults, adults with disabilities and family caregivers,” said Kristi Bohling-DaMetz, director of Aging and Adult Services at MARC. “The goal of this effort is to ensure all Missourians have access to programs and services to help them age in their environment of choice in a safe and healthy manner.”

Public input is still being gathered, and those unable to attend the in-person town hall are invited to attend a virtual town hall on Aug. 7 or Aug. 11 to give feedback.
