Happy Earth Week

It's Earth Week in Kansas City, and now more than ever there is an interest to pitch in and clean up our local parks and watersheds, learn more about composting and gardening, and sustainably reuse and recycle unwanted materials.

Highlights for this week include:

• UnDumpster Day and Earth Day Festival, hosted by Re.Use.Full at South-Broadland Presbyterian Church in south Kansas City
• CompostFest 2023 at the KC Farm School at Gibbs Road, sponsored by Missouri Organic Recycling
• “Party for the Planet” exhibition at the Kansas City Zoo (free with zoo admission on Saturday and Sunday)
• Bridging The Gap’s Earth Day of Action, all day on Saturday with cleanups located across the region
• The Great Kansas City Cleanup, also on Saturday and located at various Kansas City parks around town
• Earth Day at Lakeside Nature Center, featuring environmental puppet shows from StoneLion Puppet Theater at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
• Overland Park’s Recycling Extravaganza, with opportunities to sustainably dispose of many hard-to-recycle items. (Check event details for a full list)
• Lee’s Summit RecycleFEST, a similar event for disposing of hard-to-recycle items
• Drive Electric Earth Day, an electric vehicle expo at Prairie Village Presbyterian Church
