Extreme heat events are dangerous to health and can trigger heat-stress conditions, like heat stroke, difficulty breathing, and cardiovascular problems. Small children, older adults, people with chronic diseases, low-income populations, and outdoor workers have a higher risk of heat-related illness.

Other ways to protect your health from heat

  • Pay attention to local heat advisories issued by the National Weather Service.
  • Stay hydrated. Ensure all members of your family have adequate access to water.
  • Avoid strenuous outdoor exercise or prolonged outdoor exposure.
