The Government-to-University (G2U) Regional Coalition Summit, held on Sept. 28 at the University of Kansas - Edwards Campus, brought together more than 100 representatives from government and academia to discuss ways to improve public sector recruitment and retention. The event was made possible due to a partnership with The Volcker Alliance, an organization whose mission is to enhance the public sector workforce to ensure accountability and excellence.

The summit, led by G2U Steering Committee co-chairs Susan Sherman (with the University of Kansas) and Carolyn McKnight (with the City of Olathe, Kansas), included speeches, presentations, panels and facilitated table conversations on topics such as public sector workforce trends and practices within public sector recruitment. The event also unveiled three key programs that G2U has been working on:

  • MetroKCGovJobs.org – A new regional public sector jobs aggregator website.
  • The Regional Data Academy – A training program that aims to improve data literacy and skills among public sector employees and students.
  • Talent Connections Toolkit – A new resource to help boost public sector recruitment.

These resources can help public sector organizations find and retain the best talent. Discover more G2U resources here.
