MARC announces key leadership appointments

New director of Data and Digital Services Department

Amanda Graor was named director of the MARC Data and Digital Services Department, formerly called the Research Services Department. She previously served as deputy director of the Research Services Department and will retain her title of MARC’s chief innovation officer.

“We’re thrilled Amanda is stepping into this critical role. She will focus on strategically growing MARC’s production and management of data systems that inform progress on issues of regional importance,” said David Warm, MARC’s executive director. “Amanda will also continue to advance innovation in decision-making and service delivery within MARC and across the Kansas City region.”

New offices to support key functions

Marlene Nagel has been asked to serve as director of the new Office of Resource Development. Her focus will be to provide organization-wide leadership and support for expanding capacity in grant sourcing, writing, monitoring and reporting. Marlene previously directed MARC’s Community Development Department.

Frank Lenk has been asked to lead the new Office of Economic Research. As director, he will conduct research on the region’s economy and workforce, generate insights into its economic competitiveness and ability to generate prosperity for all, and develop partnerships to broaden and deepen the region’s responses to its economic challenges and opportunities. Frank previously served as the director of the Research Services Department.

“These leadership appointments will allow MARC to hone in deeper on areas of strength and build up talent to best serve the Kansas City region,” Warm said. “I am grateful to Marlene and Frank for stepping into these positions and look forward to the next chapter of impact.”

The leadership appointments took effect on Nov. 17.
