Artistic enlargement of COVID-19 virus

We are facilitating regular planning and coordination calls among emergency services, public health and public affairs professionals, local government administrators, nonprofit organizations and other interested groups. We are also engaging civic and political leaders to assist with communication and remediation efforts.

MARC staff are consulting with committee leadership to transition meetings to a virtual environment or cancel as appropriate. In-person courses and trainings and all large events scheduled for the next eight weeks have been cancelled.

Working with the Metropolitan Emergency Managers Committee, we are frequently updating PrepareMetroKC.org as new information becomes available. Please feel free to share this link with the public or your organizations to augment your own advisories.

We have made adjustments to MARC’s aging and early learning programs, including suspending home visits, in-person appointments and visits to direct service providers by MARC staff, including community health workers and mental health consultants.

All senior centers supported by MARC’s Aging and Adult Services program are closed from March 16 through March 31, 2020. We are currently exploring options to increase capacity for home-delivered meals with changes to the delivery process.

We have taken appropriate and recommended actions to promote workplace and employee safety. While our offices remain open, most staff are working remotely. We are limiting visitors to the office and performing routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces in meeting rooms and workspaces.

As you know, this situation is continually shifting, and we will monitor developments to adhere to federal, state and local advisories, and support the region’s efforts to protect the health and safety of the public.

Best,

David Warm
