Call for projects is now open for Connected KC 2050

The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is soliciting projects for consideration in the update of the metropolitan transportation plan (MTP), Connected KC 2050. This is not an application for specific funding; however, inclusion in the MTP is a requirement in some cases and a boost in others for future funding opportunities. The current listing of projects included in the MTP originates from a call for projects conducted in advance of the current plan’s adoption in June of 2020. This list of projects has been amended as new projects, funding or programs were identified since 2020.

We are soliciting two types of projects:

• Update an existing MTP project: Sponsors are asked to resubmit any project currently identified in the plan and confirm or amend any significant change in costs, scope, timeline, or financial resources for the project.
• New project submission: Sponsors are asked to submit any regionally significant project that is not currently in the plan.

Here are some key dates to keep in mind:

• Oct. 26 – Official launch of Call for Projects
• Nov. 1 (2-3 p.m.) – Call for Projects Informational Workshop #1
  • Online only – register here
  • Session will be recorded and available online after November 1.
• Nov. 15 (3-4 p.m.) – Call for Projects Informational Workshop #1
  • Online only – register here
• Dec. 8 (4 p.m.) – Closing deadline for Call for Projects
• December 2023-January 2024 – Staff scoring/evaluation of submitted projects
• February 2024 – MARC Committee/public review of projects
