If you could connect Kansas City, North Kansas City and Riverside with a bicycle and pedestrian trail, how would you do it? The cities and MARC are developing the Missouri River North Trail project to explore making the connection. The process began during the fall of 2023 and will continue through the summer of 2024.

The Line Creek and Missouri River Trails are the backbone of a multi-jurisdictional trail system in Platte County that connects Kansas City, North Kansas City and Riverside. But there are several barriers to fully connecting the trails together including highways, railroads and steep river bluffs.

The goal of the Missouri River North Trail project is to determine how to connect the existing trails in Platte, Clay and Jackson counties to each other and provide access to the parks and destinations in the area. This system will also provide a multimodal transportation network in the heart of the region that connects residents to employment centers.
