The Bi-State Sustainable Reinvestment Corridor project team invites residents, workers and visitors to take part in a series of public walking audits throughout October. These events offer a hands-on opportunity to explore how people move through the corridor today — and to help shape how it evolves tomorrow.

Five walking audits are scheduled to ensure broad community representation across the corridor, which spans from Kansas City, Kansas, to Independence, Missouri:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 8 — Independence Avenue & Hardesty | Register
  • Monday, Oct. 13 — Independence Avenue & The Paseo | Register
  • Wednesday, Oct. 15 — Indian Springs | Register
  • Monday, Oct. 20 — Village West
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22 — Sugar Creek

What you can expect:

  • Walk approximately 1 1/2 miles (one hour) with project team members.
  • Observe existing conditions of sidewalks, streets, land and buildings.
  • Discuss opportunities for safer, more connected and welcoming spaces and investments.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Whether you live, work or simply enjoy spending time in these neighborhoods, your voice matters. Insights gathered during the audits will inform future investments in transportation, housing, employment centers and public spaces.
