There are so many reasons to walk this season. KC Walks aims to make walking more accessible, safe and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities, whether you walk to school, work or for fun. Walk enough through the month of October and you could win an e-bike by joining the Green Commute Challenge from WAY TO GO. MARC encourages residents and visitors to explore the diverse and scenic walking opportunities in the Kansas City region, which has more than 600 miles of trails and hundreds of parks and landmarks.

Walking can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases, improve mental health, save money on transportation costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and foster social connections. Walking can also support local businesses and tourism by increasing foot traffic and creating a vibrant street life.

KC Walks has various resources and tools for walkers, such as maps, guides, tips, events and challenges. It also advocates for policies and practices that support walkability, such as sidewalks, crosswalks, trails and land use.
