Together in Service

As local governments face challenges known and unknown over the coming decade, it is imperative that all local government professions come together to provide leadership in implementing innovative and impactful solutions.

Join us as keynote speaker Wally Bobkiewicz, city administrator of Issaquah, WA, calls on all of us to work together in service to ensure local government is ready to serve our communities — now and in the future.

In addition to extensive experience at local governments across the country, Mr. Bobkiewicz has served in leadership roles with ICMA and Local Government 2030, a convening of local government professionals working to develop actionable projects to address emerging challenges.

Future Leaders Coffee: Insights with Wall Bobkiewicz

Before the event, MARC will host a special event tailored for emerging public-sector professionals. This will provide a valuable opportunity for networking and interaction in a small group setting with the assembly’s keynote speaker, Wally Bobkiewicz. Emerging local government professionals — 10 years or fewer in a role — and their managers are encouraged to join.

For the past few years, a nationwide movement called Local Government 2030 has focused on local government's needs and opportunities. Mr. Bobkiewicz has been at the forefront of this effort. The event will focus on how local government professionals can instigate forward movement on this agenda in the Kansas City region.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Engaging communities and employees.
  • Strengthening the workforce pipeline for local government.
  • Building civic capacity.

Space is limited for this FREE event, so please RSVP early.
