Housing Policy Innovation Series: Zoning for the Missing Middle Event and Walking Tour

Local zoning codes have largely blocked the construction of “missing middle” housing – from duplexes to cottage courts to townhomes – for decades. However, these housing typologies offer a range of benefits to address the housing challenges our region is facing today, such as increased affordability, improved walkability, and better neighborhood integration. 

Join the Greater Kansas City Regional Housing Partnership for a presentation and discussion with leaders from across our region and beyond to discuss the variety of ways that their cities have modernized their zoning codes to, once again, allow missing middle housing types to be built in their communities. Be sure to wear your walking shoes and join us for a special walking tour following the presentations, where we’ll explore some examples of these missing middle housing types across downtown Overland Park.
