ICS 300: Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents covers incident management strategies for emergency response to all-hazard incidents that involve ICS coordination. The three-day course utilizes scenarios and exercises within a team environment to facilitate participant discussion. The course delivery is a "less paper" delivery and course materials will be emailed to participants in advance of the course to download to your electronic device.

Priority Registration for this course is reserved for individuals located in Greater Kansas City region: Johnson, Leavenworth, and Wyandotte in Kansas; and Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte, and Ray in Missouri.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept registrations from outside the KC metropolitan service area at this time. Travel costs are not provided.

Course objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate through activities and a final exam, the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of an effective ICS in expanding incidents. The course will:

  • Outline how the NIMS Command and Coordination component supports the management of expanding incidents.
  • Describe the incident management processes as prescribed by ICS.
  • Give students the opportunity to practice implementing the incident management process and create an Incident Action Plan for a simulated expanding incident.

Required prerequisites

Participants must have successfully completed:
