During 2026, MARC plans to host two events that provide a forum for cities to discuss Short-Term Rental policy in relation to the 2026 World Cup. The purpose of these events is to provide an opportunity for idea sharing, help document region policy, and encourage actions that help keep the region moving towards it’s housing goals following the summer of 2026.

The first event will focus on conversations in preparation for the summer (event details below). The second event will serve as a follow up to identify lessons learned, as well as discuss how the region can re-center key housing issues.

Topics:

  • MARC Data on Regional STR Policies
  • Highlight Example from Peer Regions
  • Roundtable discussion:
    • What policies are cities in the MARC region following/considering?
    • How does STR policy interact with other areas? (transportation, fire/building code, housing etc.)
    • Do cities have a plan in place for policy changes after the event?
