Join the MARC SWMD’s Management Council Meeting to learn about efforts to stem the tide of plastics in the KC metro area.  

Tessa Poolman with the Missouri River Bird Observatory will present on the Show-Me Less Plastics Project which seeks to create a systems-level change for the reduction of plastic use and plastic pollution in the state of Missouri. She’ll talk about the state of the plastics crisis, and how the project promotes community outreach strategies, effective messaging through media, and empowering grassroots action to reduce the amount of plastics in our environment.  

Matt Riggs with the MARC SWMD will present the district’s efforts to promote plastic reduction, reuse and recycling. He’ll provide an overview of which plastics are currently recyclable in the metro area, upcoming changes to the plastics recycling stream, and how the district uses its grant funding and outreach tools to reign in our overuse of plastics.
