Attendees line up with professional development forms in hand at stormwater conference in 2023.

The conference will convene national, regional and local stormwater professionals to discuss the growing issues around urban stormwater. Themes will include watershed planning, civil works and MS4 and CSO regulatory standards, and much more.

Keynote presentations

Mark Doneux

Former Capitol Region Watershed District Administrator and owner/operator of Watershed Management Solutions, LLC.

Impaired waters listings, needs assessments, MS4 surveys and infrastructure report cards can paint a somber picture for the stormwater sector.

The future for stormwater to make the grade must come from both traditional and non-traditional approaches using new and improved governance, funding, regulation, technology and outreach.

Dr. Joshua Roundy

Associate Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Kansas

Current engineering practices use limited design inputs to create stormwater designs that are neither resilient to extreme events nor sustainable to continued urban development. The APWA 5600 Stormwater Standards update is helping address these concerns, but work remains to plan for connected and healthy watersheds.

Design founded on physical principles and data that address uncertainties in precipitation and streamflow, records of extreme events, moisture conditions, and downstream impacts is essential for long-lasting urban stormwater management.
