October 2022 board meeting

At the MARC Budget and Personnel Committee meeting on Oct. 25, attendees heard reports on:

  • Solid Waste Management District: Committee members continued to support regional waste reduction and recycling efforts by approving an annual agreement to provide the MARC Solid Waste Management District with administrative, organizational and planning support. The district will oversee $1,305,788 in 2023 for its grant activities, including projects related to food waste, composting and illegal dumping.
  • Home-delivered meals plan: B&P members advanced efforts to ensure older adults in the region have access to nutritious meals by authorizing MARC to submit a $2.9 million spending plan to the state of Missouri. The plan builds upon the frozen meals model that emerged during the pandemic and proposes a collaborative project to enhance frozen home-delivered meals infrastructure. Proposed changes include the establishment of a meal repackaging hub and refrigeration upgrades at six partner centers.

  • Child care collaborative networks: The state of Missouri has issued three grant proposals to create new collaborative networks that will replace the Educare program, which MARC has administered since 2018. Committee members voted to authorize MARC to submit $3 million in proposals to administer child care collaborative networks, with most of the funding passing through to direct-service agencies for on-site coaching support, intensive cohort trainings and best practice trainings.
