TTPC new member: Wyandotte County Health and WTS Kansas City

The Total Transportation Policy Committee (TTPC), which oversees multimodal transportation planning and policy in the region, welcomed two new community organization members in August. The new members are the Wyandotte County Health Equity Task Force and WTS Kansas City, a professional association for women in transportation.

The Wyandotte County Health Equity Task Force is a coalition of community organizations and individuals working to address health disparities and social determinants of health in Wyandotte County. The task force is represented by Luz Ortiz and Matthew Kleinman.

WTS Kansas City, formerly known as Women's Transportation Seminar, is a chapter of an international organization that aims to advance women in transportation through professional development, networking, and mentoring. The chapter is represented by Tawn Nugent and Heidi Eilers.

Both organizations have attended and participated in the past two TTPC meetings, which are held monthly and are open to the public. TTPC makes as many as four positions available to organizations representing business, economic development, social equity, environmental, specific transportation modes, or other perspectives relevant to this work. Positions are appointed by the co-chairs of TTPC, have voting rights, and serve two-year terms.

The other two community seats on the TTPC are held by returning members Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce and BikeWalkKC, a nonprofit organization that advocates for active transportation.

TTPC serves as a forum for state and federal officials to communicate with local officials and representatives, as well as for residents and members of the business community to address local officials about transportation-related issues. The committee consists of 24 voting members and four non-voting members from various jurisdictions and agencies in the region.
