Multiple transportation committees seek members from community organizations

MARC is currently accepting applications from community organizations and individuals interested in voting membership on the Technical Advisory Committee, Kansas Programming Committee and Missouri Programming Committee. Applicants can include people representing business, economic development, social equity, environmental, specific transportation modes or other perspectives relevant to this work.

Technical Advisory Commmittee

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) shall function as a sub-committee of the Total Transportation Policy Committee (TTPC), and act as the advisory body to the TTPC on technical matters pertaining to multi-modal surface transportation, including highway and roadway, public transit, bicycle and pedestrian matters, goods movement and freight. The TAC meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the MARC offices or via teleconference. 

The bylaws of TAC provide for one (9) voting members (plus alternates) from each community organization. Membership recruitment will focus on variety of expertise (traffic management & operations, parks & recreation, environment & public health, active transportation, etc. Positions will be appointed by the co-chairs of TTPC and will serve two-year terms.

Kansas and Missouri Programming Committees

The Kansas Programming Committee (KPC) and Missouri Programming Committee (MPC) are established to provide project funding recommendations to TTPC regarding the federal funds suballocated for transportation projects within counties in the Kansas City Metropolitan Planning Organization by federal and/or state policy and to assist in program management, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of projects funded through these programs. 

  • The KPC meets on the first Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the MARC offices or via teleconference.
  • The MPC meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the MARC offices or via teleconference. 

The bylaws of the KPC and the MPC provide for four (4) voting members (plus alternates) from each community organization. Membership recruitment will focus on variety of expertise (traffic management & operations, parks & recreation, environment & public health, active transportation, etc. Positions will be appointed by the co-chairs of TTPC and will serve two-year terms.
