Today, emotional intelligence is recognized as a major contributing factor to a leader’s success. In the past, thinking skills and intellectual aptitude were considered to be the most critical factor to success in the workplace. However, emotions are an essential part of how we relate and respond to what goes on around us. Leaders need to be able to utilize both thinking skills and emotional intelligence to maximize individual productivity and the productivity of their teams.

In this course, the learner will be exposed to the fundamentals of emotional intelligence and how it applies to leadership.

Gayle Hopkins, MA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, owns Organizational Performance Solutions LLC in Lee's Summit, Mo. She has more than 30 years of experience in human resources and organizational development. Hopkins has developed competency models for multiple organizations and has experience in succession planning, performance management, leadership development and helping managers improve the performance of their own departments.
