Add to Calendar 06/04/2026 08:30 AM 06/04/2026 03:00 PM America/Chicago Mid-America GSI Field Training - Spring

The spring in-person training builds on the Mid-America GSI On-Demand Certification and emphasizes plant-centered learning, using early-season growth to support effective identification, lifecycle interpretation, and weed management.

Participants develop hands-on skills in reading planting plans, recognizing desirable versus undesirable vegetation, and understanding how plant conditions affect GSI performance. These skills establish the foundation for the more maintenance-intensive Fall session, which places less emphasis on plant identification.

Schedule

  • 8:30 - Classroom session starts
  • 10:30 - transition to field site
  • 10:45 - Field Session
  • 12:00 - onsite lunch break
  • 12:45 - Field Session
  • 2:45 - Event close, return to classroom site

Requirements

Successful completion of the Mid-America GSI On-Demand Certification is required prior to attending the Field Certification.

Additionally, participants must complete both a Spring and a Fall field training to receive their Mid-America GSI Field Maintenance certificate.

Upon completion of both sessions, individuals will receive verification of field certification and an electronic copy within five business days of completion.

To maintain Mid-America GSI Maintenance certification, all individuals are required to recertify every three years by retaking the certification training.
