November is National Family Caregivers month, a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country.

On Sept. 12-14, the Missouri Association of Area Agencies on Aging (ma4) brought their annual Show Me Summit on Aging and Health to Kansas City, joining with the annual Age Positive: Ideas for an Age-Friendly Future conference. The Summit was organized around the theme “We Are Better Together!”

This informative webinar on Tuesday, Aug. 9, explored affordable housing choices for older adults in the Kansas City region.

As the KC Regional Community Health Worker Collaborative celebrates its fifth anniversary, it’s a good time to reflect on the region's accomplishments of the last five years.

The virtual session provided an overview of the 2022 Kansas and Missouri state legislative sessions and the impacts on aging residents.

On Wednesday, May 18, about two dozen people gathered at the Country Mart grocery store in Salem, Missouri, to learn about the Double Up Food Bucks incentive program and celebrate the program becoming part of the Town and County Supermarkets system in southern Missouri.

On Friday, April 15, at the First Suburbs Coalition meeting, the Mid-America Regional Council honored Peculiar, Missouri, for becoming more age friendly. Peculiar earned Silver Level status in the Communities for All Ages recognition program, which required conducting a self-assessment of age-friendly policies and actions.

MARC honors Excelsior Springs, Mo., Grain Valley, Mo. and Merriam, Kan. for becoming more age friendly.

This season, we are thankful for many things including our region’s local public health departments for their commitment to keeping our communities safe.
