Training & Events

The Regional Homeland Security Coordinating Committee's Training and Exercise Subcommittee (T&E) is committed to offering training in the Greater Kansas City region on homeland security issues, including deterrence, response and recovery.

The ICS-400 is a two-day course provides training for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). This course expands upon information covered in ICS-100 through ICS-300 Intermediate ICS courses, which are prerequisites for the ICS-400 course.

Required Pre-Requisites: Successful completion of accredited and most current version of ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300 (2019 version), ICS-700, and ICS-800 courses.

The Hazardous Materials Technician Refresher training is an eight-hour course offered on three separate days. 

The course includes a review of applicable laws, regulations and standards, scene management, utilizing relevant technical documents, selection of personal protective equipment (PPE) and decontamination methods.

The course includes a review of applicable laws, regulations and standards, scene management, utilizing relevant technical documents, selection of personal protective equipment (PPE) and decontamination methods.

This Respirator Fit-Test Train the Trainer course provides the participant with the skills and knowledge to conduct qualitative respiratory protection fit-testing for N95 respirators according to OSHA standards. A brief overview of the OSHA respiratory protection standard focusing on the fit-testing requirements will be provided. The training was requested primarily from those new to the fit testing requirements – nursing homes, LTC, etc. but not limited to just those facilities. 

The objectives of the course include:

Recognizing that no community is immune to public safety threats, emergency services personnel from around the Kansas City region are working to help businesses and special event managers learn how to be KC Ready - Prepared, Aware and Proactive. 

Purpose

To create a cadre of trained Disaster Case Managers to help meet unmet disaster-related needs of survivors of disasters large and small. 

Target Audience

Professional Case Managers. Volunteer and paid Case Managers and Caseworkers. Volunteers and paid staff of COAD member organizations with interest in recovery. Emergency Management and other agencies with and interest.
