Finding the Math We Already Do

Training Description

Mathematics is already woven throughout children’s play, routines and everyday experiences. When educators recognize those opportunities, they can intentionally extend mathematical thinking without adding another lesson to the day. In this interactive session, participants will explore how patterns, measurement, comparison, movement and problem solving naturally emerge through play. Together, we will examine ways to recognize and build upon the mathematical thinking children demonstrate in both indoor and outdoor environments. Participants will leave with practical, repeatable strategies that can be implemented immediately using accessible materials while helping children discover and extend the mathematics already present in their everyday play.
